The Diagnostic Imaging program is a four semester program of study designed to provide qualified radiologic technologists for diagnostic imaging departments of hospitals and outpatient clinics. Radiologic technologists use ionizing radiation to create images of the patient’s anatomy to assist physicians in diagnosing and treatment. While in the program, students will be educated in anatomy, radiation safety and protection, radiographic exam protocols, and basic patient care.  

Radiologic technologists may also have the opportunity to cross-train into advanced modalities such as computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), mammography, and cardiac intervention.

Wallace State Community College has agreed to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Alabama Birmingham (UAB) for articulation with the Bachelor of Science degree program. The articulation will allow students to complete their Associate of Applied Science Degree and transfer their credit hours to UAB in partial fulfillment of degree requirements for the Bachelor of Science in Health Care Management.
